MARIC – the Marine Innovation Centre at Plymouth University, and the NCC – the National Composites Centre, invite you to a free joint workshop on Optimising Composites to explore what is new, what the opportunities are, and the funding and technical support available to your business.
Composites have a well-established pedigree as materials of choice for many marine applications. Resistance to corrosion, low or zero maintenance, and the ability to produce free-form aero and aquadynamic shapes from low cost tooling which enables enhanced endurance to a harsh environment; have meant composites have dominated the leisure boat market for half a century. These same characteristics will be increasingly important as industry looks to exploit new opportunities offshore, shore-side and subsea. The development of higher performance materials, cleaner and more automated production technologies, and many new ways to add functionality and aesthetics to components, mean many more companies are looking to use composites in their products.
The event is aimed at companies with products or services, addressing or facing the challenges that the marine environment poses and offers, to include:
- An overview of composite materials and manufacturing techniques, and their performance offshore.
- Access and information on the support for businesses offered by the NCC and MARIC.
- New Materials and Manufacturing technologies for your composite products.
- Access to expertise in design, simulation, process and prototype development.
- Testing, Monitoring and performance prediction in the Marine Environment.
- An opportunity to pitch your own business solution or challenge.
- Showcase Session: B2B Networking with local solution providers and innovation partners.
